Sunday Citar

I have been reading Fresh Mommy for a long time. I have always enjoyed Sunday Citar and decided that it was finally time to do one myself!

I saw this the other day on Pinterest (which I have been LOVING by the way) and it really struck a cord with me.

I recently received an email from a concerned family member...it was a hard email to receive. One that asked me to evaluate where I am and if it was something that I really wanted. Unfortunately, I let it send me into a downward spiral. It has been a hard week.

But here is what I want to say...life is complicated and messy. And it seems that with choices I'm faced, it seems to be more, damned if you do, damned if you don't. There is no black and white...it's all different shades of gray.

But I am happy. I am in Brazil and I am happy. That's not to say it's not hard. That's not to say that I don't miss the place I called home, it's not to say I don't miss my family, and it's not to say I don't have days where I hate everything about it here...But who doesn't have those days? If you have the life you planned or not, who doesn't have those kinds of days?

Brazil has taught me a lot. One of the most valuable lessons I take with me is this: I don't know what the future has planned for me...but I know wherever life takes me, I'll figure it out. I know wherever I am I will find the happiness that is in store for me.

First, I love Pinterest too! So many good ideas.

You are right, no matter where we are geographically or otherwise, there are days we are not content; it is human nature. If we gave into it, we would never be stable and we would have many regrets.

When we travel I think, 'oh, I'd love to live here', then I remember that eventually any place is 'not 'new' anymore. And then I remember the special things about where I do live. Also, I remember that my life could be much more difficult than it is and I choose my attitude.

Are you in a different place? Yes. Is it difficult at times? I am sure. Do you love your husband? Obviously! So, you are right where you need to be.

No matter what we choose and do in life, there will be those that do not understand or are not supportive. That is just a reality.

Stay positive!

Love this quote ~ and, oh so true! Just up and down, and figure it out along the way. Learning to love the process of all that might be what it's all about!

I received an email like that recently. It was a family member that doesn't know me well. I chalked it up to her own discomfort with my suffering. Life is short and painful! We all suffer, no matter where we live. Meredith tends to keep her posts very general and very positive- maybe this is partly why? She's a good role model. :-)

As for me, I prefer authenticity to hiding behind false cheerfulness. Some of my posts need to say exactly where I am. But maybe not? Maybe I should put together an email list of 'reliable understanding people' and save the blog for other highlights. IDK.

Also, not to get too esoteric, but Mercury is in Retrograde and we have had enrmous solar flares/storms. Any time Merc is retro, it is a time to reflect and re-evaluate on life. Combined with the solar flares which activate compressed jealousy, anger, and fear in people's minds, whether conscious or unconscious. If people have not been working on healing these issues, the issues become stronger during the time of strong solar activity. Take what you like from this, I'm just trying to be helpful. :-)

I'm checking out Pinterest now. Que legal.

But - my blogger friend - I detect some saddness or remorse. Do you want to talk more about that?

I've never been able to put how I feel about living in Brooklyn into words, but I think you just did it for me. Sometimes I hate it. It's hard sometimes and I often find myself daydreaming about what it will be like to move away.

But just because I don't always love where I live doesn't mean I hate my life. I love how you said that you don't know what the future holds, but no matter where it takes you you'll find the happiness you need. That's exactly how I feel. You're awesome. I miss you and am so impressed with your courage and strength.

My friend, sometimes Earth sucks no matter where you're standing. Unless it's God giving His opinion, go with your gut.

And bless her heart for being so bored with her own life that she has time to analyze yours.

One of my favorite quotation is: If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans. Who's to say you're not exactly where you are supposed to be right now?

There is a special feature on the Lost Season 6 DVD called "The Hero's Journey" and it has a bunch of Joseph Campbell quotes that I really like. Let's watch it when you come over!

Here are a couple of quotes for you now! :)

"We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us."

"If you follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Wherever you are—if you are following your bliss, you are enjoying that refreshment, that life within you, all the time."

One of my favorite quotes is this: Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved box, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a ride!" (Anonymous)

Life the life less ordinary!
