Questions Answered

I know it has been a while since I have posted and that you all have a lot of unanswered questions! Sorry for the delay... BG was right in saying I am experiencing a lot of emotions! The first thing when I got the news I was really, really disappointed. Though I had told you all that I would not get my hopes up...well a girl can't help but dream...

Anyway after the disappointment, came the okay, what do I do now? Despite all the lists and preparations I felt completely lost. So I cleaned out purses and make up because I have an ungodly amount (the same Wednesday night)and brought them down for my family to go through. I'm sure they thought I was crazy...I call it coping.

Next came the sadness...I started thinking about how I would not be part of my family's daily life anymore. How much I would miss all of my friends, etc etc. But after talking to Sidnei, I got over that pretty quickly..

Now I'm just EXCITED/nervous/scared!!!

Also, another option we had, was the Motion to Reconsider. We have gone back and forth with whether or not we would ask the Judge to reconsider giving Sidnei bond. Sidnei said he would wait if the lawyer thought we had chance. Luckily I just checked my email and she said she is pushing to expedite his deportation and that we would not enter in the motion.

Good thing I bought my ticket tonight!

May 26th, I will be leaving to fly to Belo Horizonte!! (Of course I won't be there until May 27th) I bought my ticket for a little later in May in case we waited out the thirty days and even though we aren't, I'm still a little glad. There is SOOOOOO much to do!!

We will live in Ipatinga, Minas Gerais. With his parents. Which I am hoping won't be for too terribly long. I am hoping he will have some time to get things straight, find a job, and we can start the apartment search....because I am sure I will LOVE my in-laws....but I think you all see where I am going with this...

As far as Sidnei goes: right now he is still in jail. They are working on expediting his deportation process. So I am hoping in the next week or so he gets to fly home. We should know more details this week.

Sidnei's visa application is still in. He still has a chance to come back to this country. His application has been approved (by USCIS) which is a very good sign and now it goes to the National Visa Center. Not that I have any idea what this means, but when I have a chance I will be sure to ask the lawyer. But we won't know any definite answers for another year and a half.

Any other questions?

Again I am SO SO excited for our new adventure! I am SO SO SO excited that I will see my husband again on May 27th!!!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!

Thank you all for you support, kind and encouraging words! It has been so nice to share this journey with others and have someone rooting for us! Much love to the blog world!!

Wow, I imagine your thoughts must be just about to explode out your ears! It's totally expected that you should be a whirlwind of emotions because before it was just theoretical and now it's real.
I would love it if you and Sidnei came to visit here in Juiz de Fora. Or even considered moving here for school and/or work. It's not a chic town (they call it the Manchester of Brazil) but it's inexpensive and peaceful and lots of opportunities. And you'd already have a friend!
Hang in there! Day by day! Any questions/need to vent or stress out, just ask!!!

You bought your ticket! It's really happening! I am all sorts of excited for you. Seriously, I'm practically bursting! And I think giving yourself two months to get things in order is an excellent idea.

I'll be in Brasil for Christmas- we should meet in SP!

Are you going to have any money saved up before you get there?? Are you bringing anything to Brazil with you?? How?? LOL I'm so amazed!

Wow, that is an amazing adventure!!! It will be wonderful to be reconciled to your Sidnei no matter where it is, but change is never the easiest. You're still in my prayers! Have fun getting ready, and get some rest when you can!

I am so happy for you. To be back together is the main thing. And you will love his family I am sure but I do understand how uncomfortable you will feel. But do give it a chance. And hopefully in due time you will come back here...I am happy for you!

I'm really happy that you pain is about to have an end! You and Sidnei are finally going to be together! :)

I understand that a lot of things are crossing your mind and be away from your family is hard! But you will have a totally different adventure now and you will meet so many new people! And skype, MSN, facebook is ther to help with the distance! You will get used and you will be happy because you are finally with the one you love!

And like you said, later he has a chance to go back to US and do everything right! You don't have to live in Brazil for the rest of your life if you don't want to!

Again... I'm happy for you two and this gives me a little hope about my case too! ;)

take care!
hugs!

Ok...I am happy for yout oo but now is the planning phase girl!
Make your lists....
what you want to take...I recommend different types of clothes so that you can travel anywhere needed to go for work etc..
if there are any food products, besides meats, veggies, cheeses, that you really are going to miss. I know that a lot of expats would disagree with me, but hey, if you really like it, why should you live without it!
ANY and ALL papers/phone numbers that you may need...i.e. credit cards, bank statements, visa/passport, etc...
let me think of more and we can chat soon!

Way to keep a positive attitude.

I hope that you love Brazil for the year and a half (or however long it takes) and then you guys get to come back.

Is it easier for you to get a visa there to work?

I can't imagine all the emotions you have experienced. I am sure leaving your family will be tough, but the scripture does say to 'leave and cleave' to your husband and you are doing that!!
Sweet times are ahead so keep that in mind. All in God's time and hands.

Belo Horizonte awaits your arrival! Anytime you and your hubby want to spend some time in BH, we have a guest bedroom that is rarely occupied . . . :)

You're going to enjoy Brasil! (And being with your husband!!!)

Stephanie, there is so much to say I don't even know where to start. I know it will be hard to leave friends and family and life here in the States. It will take a lot of adjustments to live in a foreign country. BUT – the most important thing is to be with Sidnei. He is your future. And to finally be together will be so amazing for both of you! Wow! Living with his parents will be tough but I think that is a good decision until the two of you are settled. I bet his parents will LOVE having both of you home! Side note: Do they speak English? How is your Portuguese coming along? I know the language barrier is going to be tough but you’ll learn. There is no better way to learn than full emersion. Lucas and I considered moving to Colombia for 6 months or so after we first married. I had a good job though and didn’t want to give it up. That would’ve been a great way to learn Spanish though and really connect with his family. Even though this might not be your first choice, enjoy this opportunity you have been given. And how many of us can say we lived in Brazil? Not many! Enjoy it while you can. I do hope you and Sidnei move back to the states in the not to distant future. But at least you will have some fun exotic experiences. You better keep blogging from Brazil! I know you will. Good luck with all the preparations! Can’t wait to hear more about your plans to reunite with Sidnei!!!

Thanks for the update. I can only imagine what you must be going through these last few weeks! But I´m glad you seem to be taking this positively! You can only look forward on this and at least you will have your love at your side! And as I see from the comments you already have some blog friends down there. So that´s a good start. Can I ask, if you have ever been there before? Have you met Sidnei´s family yet?

I'm sorry he can't come home to you but I am glad you will be together soon.

I hear you on the living with parents thing. 2 chicks in one house can get messy...

I'm very happy for you!

Stephanie....

Happy you will be reunited! But look hon, we need to talk about Brazil. ;- )

Prepare yourself for culture shock. It's pretty different down here. Best thing is to breath deeply, and not compare this place with the US. If you do, things will get even more frustrating.

Speaking of which, I am officially making myself your Brazilian counselor. If you are about to go out of your mind, or can't figure something out, shoot me an email. I'd be happy to give my aid or advice.

Minas you say...very nice. It's a beautiful State, with great cachaça. Wish you the best, and welcome to the jungle.

A year and a half! That will fly by so quickly you wont even know what happened! I am glad you have such a positive outlook on this. It will be an adventure with ups and downs, but at least you will finally be with your hubby, where you belong! At least you have some sort of answer now! yeah for you!
