An Update, An Ass, and LOST

Thank you all for your well wishes! I am starting to feel better today! The fever is just about gone! It is very low grade now! Sorry to be such a downer on Saturday. I was frustrated.

Which is not much unlike today. Today I have been home, but have been going back in forth with the lawyer all morning. I want him to update us on what is going on, I want him to answer a few questions. I send the email. He sends back a smart alec email saying if we wanted to, we could withdraw our motion at anytime. I send him one back saying that is not what I asked him about, I would like him to answer my questions, and then I proceeded to call him an ass. Oops. But he really is, I wasn't saying it for theatrical effect.

He is a federal defender, so we are not paying him (theoretically that is..our taxes are doing that) and this is the criminal side of the case by the way. We still haven't made it to the immigration side. That is next. So anyway, the outcome of that is that he is telling me that he will now only talk to Mr. S. I'm frustrated. And I really can't stand this guy and I would go and get a different lawyer except it would slow down the whole process and I just can't bring myself to do that. Well that, and the fact I don't have any more money to pay for another lawyer. The immigration lawyer we paid a lot for. I mean A LOT. I am hoping it will be well worth it. Basically what I am saying is...crap. I try and play nice girl, I get now answers. I try and play the intellectual side, I get no answers. I try and play the emotional side, I get no answers. I try and be a *insert bad word here*, I get no answers. So my next question is, What does it take to get some freakin answers then??

I have been watching LOST since I have been sick. I am addicted. I finally finished Season 3. Holy crap. This is good stuff. I can not stop watching it. I LOVE writers. How do they come up with this stuff??? How do they make it all intertwine, twist, and turn? And still make sense at the end?? Dang right for them to go on strike. They seriously need to make money, this is brilliant stuff. Just when you think it's over, it's NOT! I will try and watch some of Season 4 throughout this month and catch up! Any other LOST fans out there?

Bear with me, more positive outlooks are on their way. But for now, I just need to be frustrated. I need to vent. Sorry.

Do I need to come to Myrtle Beach just so we can throw some clay?

Oh honey I pray for you everyday. I know this has got to be so very hard. Just know that I am here if you need me.

Oh, hon, I'm sorry he's being a jerk. That is the last thing you need to deal with right now.

(((hugs)))

And vent away...that's what we are here for--to be here for you!

I do feel for you with your frustration. I think others are asking you too - What is your husband charged with and why did he leave the country for the honeymoon if he knew he would be charged?

That is terrible! I am so sorry! How long has this been going on?

That really stinks.

I hope the lawyer changes his mind and mans up.

I hope you get some answers soon.

Oh that sucks, I am so sorry! I can't believe that guy. I am sure he just looks as everything as his job but he needs to remember these are peoples lives and maybe have a little empathy before he talks to you like a smart alec!!! I would have called him an ass and many other colorful things if he was treating me that way!

Let's all hope and pray for a good update soon :) Love you and miss you tons!

He is acting like an ass so he deserves to be called one. That is crazy that he only wants to talk to Sidnei; you are his wife, he can talk to you just as well. I would demand that he talk to you as well.

I too don't understand...what is he criminally being charged with? I thought this was just an immigration issue. Sounds like a bunch of drama. I am sure you will be glad when this all over. Prayers for both of you still.

Glad you are feeling a little better.

Nope, not a LOST fan here, never actually seen a full episode.

I'm sorry you are frustrated. Someday you will look back on all this and laugh. Just not today, and I understand that.

Huge LOST fan over here! I think most of tv is utter crap, but this is one of a couple of shows that my day stops for!!!

LOST, CSI (original Vegas one), Army Wives, and Survivor - these are the shows I really love!!

You think I'm nutty over Twilight? Well, wait 'til Season 5 of Lost returns. That is MY show. I even have a "Lost Links" section on my blog. I. Am. Addicted. I've watched from the very first episode of season 1.

Season 4 comes out on DVD in December...just in time for you to get caught up for Season 5 in early February. Woooooooooo!

And I'm sorry you are going through all this mess with your husband and the situation y'all are in. I'll pray for you, indeed!

We are big LOST fans over here. It's better on DVD though since there are no commercial interruptions and you can watch one after the other. A little addicting....

Hope things get better soon. In the meantime, sometimes you just have to vent!

I am so sorry that happened! What a jerk. I think these people forget there are actual people behind the phones or computer screens. I wonder how he would act if he was in your shoes. Hang in there! I will be praying for you. I am so glad to hear you are feeling better! Did you happen to get your package?

I love Lost! We missed a couple of shows at teh beginning of last season, so I didn't want to keep watching until I had caught up. So is Season 4 out on DVD yet? I need to catch up before season 5 comes out! Yes, it's so addicting and Sawyer is so good looking!

I am sorry you are not happy with
Sidnei's attorney. I know it is frustrating to be caught in the criminal justice system.

To be devil's advocate--many people do not understand the limitations placed on attorneys about who we can talk to and about what....and most often, people do not understand what is relevant and what is not. While it is nice if he can get along with you, his job is to represent Sidnei, and not make friends with his wife. Keep in mind too that he has 100 clients, and the court on his back all the time too--the stresses are massive.

I know that sounds crappy, but I can tell you there is nothing worse than being ordered around by a client or his spouse (not that you are doing this, but many do and after a while, we get short -tempered), when the public defenders are the only ones that give a crap about the clients that need us. We get paid next to nothing, work long hours, have too many cases and deal with extremely difficult topics, and we do it because we think it is important- and because we want to work for the people who need us, not the ones that can afford us. That makes it hard to take criticism from those very people--we are doing the best we can, when no one else will do it for you--that should give us a little wiggle room when it comes to not necessarily being as nurturing or polite as people might expect us to be.

Keep that in mind when you are dealing with him and it might make it a little easier to understand his shortcomings.

Plus, as a rule, attorneys are asses. It is how we are made. In the end though, this is your husbands appointed attorney, he is the one you got, and staying on his good side will only help you.

I hope things work out for you and that you don't squash my comment because it is not on the right side
